Grouard Community Club Cemetery Committee

Press Release

Grouard Community Gathering – Grouard Mission Cemetery

Seven generations back and seven generations forward.

This community engagement is meant to connect the members of this community with the past, present and future through:

  • Mind – Gain knowledge about ancestors, birth/death dates and locations.
  • Body – Connect ancestors with descendants, to know where our descendants are.
    • 1200+ people are buried here, however due to a fire that destroyed most markers, only 350 graves are visible on a plot map, 60 of which remain unidentified as the markers are unreadable.
  • Spirit – Enable those affected by recent events to have time with a spiritual advisor
  • Emotions – Prevent harm/trauma experienced by gravediggers finding bones or coffins when digging graves.

Anyone who has family buried in the cemetery or has information about those buried there is invited to attend. It is your opportunity to connect with your ancestors.

Where: Grouard Northland School

When: Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 10 am to 2 pm
