December 3, 2018: On November 29, 2018, during a Special Council Meeting, council unanimously voted to promote Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Jordan Panasiuk to the position of CAO, effective January 8, 2019.

“On behalf of Big Lakes County Council, I would like to welcome Mr. Panasiuk as the new CAO for the County.  During Mr. Panasiuk’s time as Acting CAO he has shown a wide range of skills and qualities that make him a great fit for this position. Council has full confidence in this decision and we look forward to continuing to work with him,” said Big Lakes County Reeve Simard.

Mr. Panasiuk was hired at the County on November 14, 2016 as the Director of Community Services. He was then appointed as Deputy CAO on August 14, 2017 and has been Acting CAO since September 1, 2018.

Mr. Panasiuk is looking forward to his new position saying, “I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and respectful group of people. I look forward to working with Council, staff, and our municipal neighbors to overcoming the challenges ahead and continue to provide efficient and valued services for our residents.

Big Lakes County’s current CAO Roy Brideau will be retiring at the beginning of January after 39 years in municipal government. “My career has started and ended in Alberta and I have to say that I have truly enjoyed my time in Big Lakes County; serving the community and working with the wonderful Council and staff.  I congratulate Mr. Panasiuk and I look forward to all the great and wonderful things you will collectively accomplish.
