Congratulations to Sydney Saitz, who was selected by Big Lakes County Council to receive the 2020 Return of Service Bursary. This $3,000 bursary was developed to incentivize post-secondary graduates to provide their skills and expertise within the Big Lakes County boundaries following their graduation.
In September, Ms. Saitz will be entering her final year of the Teacher Education North program at the Grande Prairie Regional College. This program allows students in their third and fourth years to graduate with a University of Alberta Bachelor of Education degree and qualify for teacher certification in Alberta while staying close to home. Teaching in northern rural schools and working with aboriginal students are the two themes integrated throughout the program and coursework. Following graduation, Ms. Saitz’s goal is to work for the High Prairie School Division.
