Did you know that batteries thrown in the trash or regular recycling can cause fires? Help keep our communities safe — please recycle your batteries properly.
Drop off your used batteries at any of these locations:
- Big Lakes County Admin Office in High Prairie or Kinuso
- Town of High Prairie Admin Office
- Faust, Joussard, Grouard & Enilda FCSS Offices
- Gift Lake Metis Settlement Admin Office
- East Prairie Metis Settlement Admin Office
- POPS Home Hardware Building Centre High Prairie
Why It’s Important:
- Batteries can cause sparks if they come into contact with debris.
- Lithium batteries can be damaged in trucks and cause fires at recycling processing centres.
- Batteries can overheat if left outdoors, increasing the risk of fire.
- Certain chemicals in batteries can harm the environment if they end up in landfills.
- Some landfills in Canada are reaching capacity — proper battery recycling helps reduce waste sent to landfill.
This recycling effort is proudly supported by the High Prairie & District Regional Waste Management Commission and Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!
