Appearance: Black and white, medium size
Date Impounded: April 23, 2024

Lilly is a lovely gal, our current longest resident (tied only with her daughter, Petunia). Lilly is a big people loving girl, and is very sweet and gentle, but also happy and playful! She would appreciate a home that is higher in energy where she’ll have time to play, go for walks or runs, and space to unleash her zoomies. After having burned her energy she will be happy to curl up on or next to you for some cuddles and maybe a nice nap together. She is excellent on a leash, but once she starts going then she likes to stay going – she isn’t one to stop and smell the roses. When she wants to walk, then she’s walking! Running and jogging is well suited to her as well. She is a big time chewer, and appreciates lots of toys to sink her teeth into, and to keep her away from non-toys, like blankets and pillows (but if you have old ones then Lilly would love to help you dispose of them!). Lilly is a very smart girl whose ideal home is one where she is the only dog, has space to play and people to play with, and a family or owner who understands positive reinforcement to help her thrive.
Lilly is untested with cats, good with kids (tested with 10+ years old), and would like a home with no other dogs, please! Her daughter Petunia is also in our care.

Date Impounded: April 23, 2024

Petunia is a beautiful, sweet little girl with a cuddly personality. She loves to flop over and have her tummy rubbed, and she could convince you to sit and do so for hours with her big brown eyes! She is shy but friendly, and although she likes to slink around on her belly when she gets nervous, she warms up very quickly to people. She requires some patience and understanding in new environments, but she is a brave girl who is curious to learn more about the world, and would love to do so with the help of her own family. Petunia is a growing gal who is gaining more confidence every day in herself, and with her own home she’ll be able to grow even faster into the confident dog that she deserves to be! She would do well in a medium level activity household where she’ll get lots of cuddles and pets, and room to play and learn. She is good at walking on a leash with a harness and is learning basic obedience. Her ideal household would be one with understanding and patience towards her comfort levels and will move slowly but steadily with her to grow her confidence, and will give her lots of affection.
Petunia is shy but good with other dogs. She is untested with cats and children. Her mom is Lilly, also in our care.
Scary Spice
Breed: Weimaraner Mix
General Demeanour: Friendly, Playful
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: Approx. Jan 2024

Appearance: Grey/brownand white with dark face, medium size
Date Impounded: May 14, 2024
Adoption fee: $350
Don’t worry about her name – Scary Spice isn’t scary at all! She is a playful girl who got her name because she came to us with a nasty cut on her leg, and had a super scared look in her eyes. And ok, that look has stuck a bit. But she’s not scary, and she’s not scared! She’s a suck-up who uses her sad, nervous look to her own benefit. Scary’s cut needed stitches and time after she came to us, but she quickly healed right up, and also learned to trust people after being quite afraid when she was first found. She is now a happy, playful girl, and after a few days of being in our care her siblings were found, and she was reunited with her four sisters. You would never know Scary once had a leg injury, because she loves to run, play, and jump! With her suspected Weimaraner heritage, Scary has boundless energy and is suited to a high energy home who can match her levels of excitement. She is intuitive and learns well, but does require some positive reinforcements (meaning treats, and lots of them!) to help keep her attention focused when it is time to learn. She is good on a leash, and loves going for walks. Two of her siblings have gone off to be family pets, and that’s just what we’re looking for for Scary as well. She enjoys making new human and canine friends, and is well socialized with other dogs, and has a submissive personality, allowing other dogs to take lead and be in charge without problems from her. She can be a little shy around new people. We believe she had some bad experiences with humans before coming into our care, possibly having to do with the cut on her leg, and although she is a happy and loving girl now, she has some bad memories and can be timid upon first meets. Still, she warms up quickly, and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. We’d love for Scary to find a home that will always remind her how to be cared for and loved!
Scary is good with kids (tested with 10+ years), untested with cats, and good with other dogs. Her siblings are Posh and Ginger, also in our care.
Posh Spice

Sex: Female

Appearance: Tan, white and black, medium size
Date Impounded: May 14, 2024
Adoption fee: $350
Posh Spice is the calmest of her litter, but that doesn’t mean she won’t want to play! After a good run around and maybe a game of fetch, Posh likes to laze around and suntan and would enjoy having a grassy lawn to do so on! Her name reflects her nature, and Posh would love to get to enjoy all of the finest things in her life – like toys to chew on, lawns to run around on, soft beds to snooze on, ear scratches and belly rubs to be had! With a space to release her energy Posh would be an even happier lady than she already is. Posh’s leash and obedience skills are improving along with her confidence. Posh is looking for a medium to high energy household that will meet her needs for love, attention, treats, and time to learn and grow.
Posh is good with other dogs. She is untested with cats and kids. Her sisters are Ginger and Scary, also in our care.

Appearance: Tan and white with black face, medium size
Date Impounded: May 14, 2024

Ginger Spice is the embodiment of an older sister, and isn’t afraid to step up and be in charge or boss her sisters around. She keeps them in line, but she is a young dog herself so of couse she sometimes crosses that line herself. Ginger is always first in line for treats and attention, and she loves to meet new people and other dogs. She is such a good girl that she is one of our ‘introductory’ dogs, who we will use to see how new intakes will be around other dogs, beause we know Ginger has never had a problem with anyone new! Ginger enjoys playing outside with her sisters, sniffing everything in sight, and is learning leash skills and doing very good with it. Ginger would be happy as a pet for a medium to high energy household, indoors or outdoors, although she would need a warm and cozy spot to keep her safe during winter if outside. Although she has a playful personality and a good amount of energy, Ginger is intuitive and knows there are times, places, and people to be calm for.
Ginger is good around other dogs and kids and babies. She has some issues to work around with cats. Her sisters are Posh and Scary, also in our care.
Juno

Appearance: Black, brown, and white, large size
Date Impounded: May 17, 2024
Adoption fee: Free! Thanks to a generous sponsor
Juno is a sweet, friendly, and energetic gal who would make a great companion! Juno is a smart and food motivated dog who is practicing her leash skills and manners, and learning very quickly. We suspect Juno general obedience and knowledge training was done improperly, or not done at all, when she was young which resulted in same late learning and bad manners to be corrected. And corrected they have been! We have been very proud of Juno and how much she has been growing and learning since we met her, and will continue to teach her more until we can say bye to her. With her natural energy we think Juno would be a great dog for a household that enjoys long walks or runs and outdoor activities, or a house that will give her room to run and play. She is working on crate training, and is generally ok left alone for a several hours at a time in her kennel space. Juno would do best in a medium to high energy household that has experience in raising and teaching dogs. She would likely prefer a fenced yard or large dog run in an unfenced yard.
Juno is good with other dogs and cats. She is untested with kids.
Elf (On the Shelf)

Date of Birth: Approx. 2022
Location: Foster Home

Appearance: Golden/red, small to medium size
Date Impounded: Aug 9, 2024
Adoption fee: $300
Elf is a friendly, sweet little guy with a people-pleasing nature and well-mannered behaviour. His name comes from his goofy side – when we first got him, he thought sleeping on an empty upper-level shelf was far better than sleeping on his dog bed! Elf has shown aptitude towards basic obedience and leash skills, and he enjoys having a routine that he can naturally fall into. He knows commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘lay’ and is an absolute dream to walk on a leash. He also loves to play fetch! He is friendly but gentle, and although he likes to play he isn’t very high up on the ‘energy scale’. Laying down for some cuddles and pets is much more preferable to him than running around, but he wouldn’t say no to a casual walk, either. He enjoys being close to people to follow them around or to offer a helping hand with whatever tasks they’re doing (treats aren’t required for his services, but they are appreciated!). He is a big suck, and as his foster home has said, if he could crawl into your skin, he would! Not a creepy way – he’s just super big into cuddles. He’ll lay down in anyone’s lap for some snuggles, and if he could be pet 24/7 then he would find a way to be. Elf is looking for a medium energy household with either lots of people, or someone with lots of time to give him a bunch of affection. If he has some canine siblings to play with and get that affection from as well, then even better!
Elf is good with other dogs and cats. He is house and crate trained. He is untested with children.

Appearance: Tan & brown, medium
Date Impounded: Sept 18, 2024
Adoption fee: $300
Mack is a young boy who is growing like an absolute weed before our eyes! He is such a smart young dog, picking up on basic obedience very easily, and is doing good with his leash skills (although in his mind a leash is still a a snack). He is a playful boy who loves to run around, chew on toys, and be around people and other dogs. As well as being taught manners and obedience by our staff, some of our older dogs have also been teaching Mack to be a good boy, and he learns well from other dogs. As he grows Mack will have to continue to be taught basic obedience, as any young dog would. He would do well in a medium to high energy household that has time to put into teaching a young and playful puppy.
Mack is good with most other dogs. He is good with older kids (tested with 13+). He is untested with cats.

Charlie is a friendly, happy boy who we suspect has experience in being a pet and family dog. He is very affectionate and absolutely adores all people. He loves nothing more than head pets and hugs, and will gladly laze around with you or walk with you, whatever! If it means he gets to spend quality time with a human, he’s happy to be involved. He is well trained on a leash, knows basic obedience such as sit, and loves to get rewarded with treats. He is very good with other dogs, and loves to make new friends! Charlie woud be a great family pet and protector with his large size but gentle personality. He would love a home who is looking for a motivated, smart, cuddly dog.
Charlie is good with other dogs and kids. He is untested with cats.
Chloe
Breed: Shepherd Mix

Sex: Spayed Female
Date of Birth: Dec 2023

Appearance: Brown, large size
Date Impounded: Nov 4 2024
Adoption fee: $350
Chloe is a very shy dog with very little experience in being around people. Most of her life she was allowed to roam freely and acted as essentially a stray, with the majority of her human interactions coming from occasional, random feedings. Despite no formal training and not being raised around people, Chloe is friendly, although very shy. She requires patience and a gentle hand (and if that hand has food in it, then she is sure to befriend you faster!). Understanding is key to getting to know Chloe. She was dealt a very rough hand in her first year of life. No shelter, no regular feedings, made to fend for herself. The scar tissue you can feel on her ears and see on her face speak of how hard it is for a dog to largely live on their own, and how Chloe didn’t have an easy beginning to her life. We are now working on teaching Chloe to be not just a dog, but a pet. Someone capable and deserving of love and care, because we never want this girl to have to fend for herself again. Chloe doesn’t know the basics – how to walk on a leash, commands such as sit or stay, that a hand being reached out to her means pets, not harm. But she is learning, and she is learning fast. Chloe doesn’t have an ounce of aggression or meanness to her. When she gets nervous she cowers, but patience works wonders. We’ve already discovered she loves ear scratches and is learning to be ok with showing of her belly for belly rubs. She’ll eat right of your hand, and is willing to share her bed with employees to get some pets. She likes a soft blanket to cuddle up on, and a ball to toss around. She is such a sweet girl who just wants a peaceful, caring life, and a family to love and be loved by. Chloe is looking for a quiet, understanding home who will work through her nerves and show her how to be a pet, and how to be cared for. She is sure to be a rewarding dog to watch grow and learn.
Chloe is shy but good with other dogs, although she would prefer the company of other female dogs. She is untested with cats and kids.

Jet is a happy, friendly, and playful boy. He doesn’t seem to have a care in the world, and is always wagging his tail and letting his tongue loll out! He is very used to being around people and hanging out outdoors. He is good at walking on a leash and with basic obedience, although he does have a tendancy to jump up on people when he is excited, which we are teaching him not to do.
Jet is good with other dogs. He is untested with cats and kids.

Hunter is one half of a Great Pyrenees duo that came to us after being left wandering for nearly a year when their owner passed. They took good care of each other, but it wasn’t a time without struggles, as evidenced by their long and messy coats, scar tissue, and scrapes. We’re working on getting these boys cleaned up, but have already been amazed by their calm, gentle personalities and friendly demanours. Hunter seems to be the older of the two. He is very smart, knowing how to sit, walk on a leash, and loves to offer you a paw to be held. He is the definition of a gentle giant, and is so careful and affectionate. Hunter would like to live on a big outdoor acreage or farm to keep safe and be taken care of in turn.
Hunter is good with other dogs. He is untested with cats and kids. We request that Hunter be adopted with Leo.

Appearance: Tan, medium size
Date Impounded: Nov 23 2024

Benny is a sweet, affectionate boy. He was found in a live trap in some cold weather, and way skinnier than we like to see a dog. Despite being introduced to us under rough circumstances, Benny had a sweet, people-loving personality from the get-go, and was happy to be around and get pets from any person. He is definitely used to being around people and being cared for, and he has a lot of love to go around for everyone. He is a calm dog, and so far his favourite thing to do is nap. We haven’t found any toys that interest him yet, so his laidback personality seems pretty strong. He has very good manners and leash skills, although he can be a little pushy when he wants to be pet. We have listed Benny as a mixed breed, but believe he may have some hound in him due to his floppy ears and some soulful howls we’ve heard out of him. Benny will need a careful diet and his weight monitored until he puts on a few more pounds, but beyond his skinniness he is in good health and ready to find a family to share his love with. He would be suitable for a medium to low energy household.
Benny is untested with other dogs, cats, and kids.
