Council for Big Lakes County is considering a proposed amendment to the Big Lakes County Land Use Bylaw No. 26-2024. The purpose of proposed Bylaw No. 18-2026 is to re-district NW 10-74-17-W5 (Gilwood Area) from the Agriculture (AG) District to the Rural Industrial (RI) District as shown on the accompanying sketch:

Copies of the proposed Land Use Bylaw Amendment may be examined by contacting the office of the County Administration between the hours of 8:15 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Any person, group of persons, or person representing them who claims to be affected by the proposed bylaw amendment may make an oral or written submission to Council for consideration.  Written submissions must be received no later than 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 and must include the name of the signatories and how each signatory is affected by the subject matter of the public hearing.

The Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 1:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Big Lakes County Administration Office at 5305 – 56 Street, High Prairie.  Any person wishing to attend the public hearing electronically must register at least five (5) calendar days prior to the commencement of the public hearing.  A link will be provided to registered attendees before commencement of the public hearing.
