Kirsten Bruder Receives Big Lakes County Return of Service Bursary
Big Lakes County, AB –– Big Lakes County is thrilled to announce that Kirsten Bruder has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Return of Service Bursary. This award recognizes Kirsten’s remarkable academic drive, community involvement, and her unwavering commitment to contributing to the well-being of our County.
Kirsten, a passionate and dedicated student, is currently pursuing a diploma in Animal Health Technology at Northwestern Polytechnic. Throughout her educational journey, Kirsten has consistently demonstrated excellence in her studies and a deep commitment to animal welfare and healthcare.
“We are extremely proud to support Kirsten as she continues her educational journey,” said Reeve Tyler Airth. “Her dedication to both her studies and our community exemplifies the spirit of the Return of Service Bursary. We anticipate Kirsten’s return to Big Lakes County as an animal health professional who will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the welfare of animals in our community.”
Kirsten has been an active community member all her life and participated in community volunteer events and is an avid horse enthusiast. “Most of my childhood was spent on the Lesser Slave Lake, skiing, wakeboarding, and surfing with my family.” Kirsten states, “I have spent countless hours on the lake enjoying the sun. During that period of time, I had also continued my interest in horses which gave me the title of the High Prairie Elks Pro Rodeo Queen of 2022-2023, I spent that year traveling to rodeos to represent my hometown of High Prairie. I am now looking to pursue my passion of Animal Biology at Northwestern Polytechnic in Fairview in the Animal Health Technology program.”
Kirsten will receive a bursary of $3,000 to assist with her educational expenses. The Return of Service Bursary is awarded annually to a deserving student who has shown a strong dedication to returning to Big Lakes County to contribute their skills and knowledge to the local community.
