Big Lakes County Council is proud to announce that Julia and Jamie Hunt of Kinuso have been selected as the 2025 recipients of the Big Lakes County Wall of Fame Award. This award recognizes individuals who have shown exceptional dedication to their community and made a lasting, positive impact through years of volunteerism and leadership.
Born and raised in Kinuso, Julia and Jamie have become pillars of their community through decades of service and involvement. Together, they have given their time, energy, and passion to countless community initiatives and events, earning a reputation for being dependable, generous, and deeply community-minded.
Their extensive volunteer contributions include:
- Board members with the Central Slake Lake Agricultural Society
- Secretary of the Kinuso Community Recreational Board
- Spruce Point Park Rodeo Committee
- Larry Dahlgren Memorial Fish Derby
- President of the Kinuso School Council
In addition to their board and committee work, Julia and Jamie have played key roles in organizing and supporting many local events—most notably the annual Rib Fest in Kinuso, the Spruce Point Park Rodeo, local bonspiels at the curling rink, and the community fish derby. Whether it’s cooking, setting up, taking registrations, working the gate or bar, or distributing prizes, they consistently go above and beyond.
Reeve Tyler Airth shared his appreciation, saying, “Julia and Jamie embody the spirit of community. Their unwavering commitment to volunteering, community leadership, and helping others has enriched the lives of so many. This recognition is a small token of our deep appreciation for everything they’ve done to make Big Lakes County a better place.”
The Hunts were formally recognized during the Big Lakes County Annual BBQ held on June 26, 2025, at the Administration Office in High Prairie. Their names will be permanently added to the Wall of Fame in tribute to their remarkable legacy.
