Boards & Committees
A Council committee or board is a smaller group formed within the larger governing body of Council. These committees or boards are tasked with specific responsibilities and areas of focus, allowing for more detailed examination and management of various issues. They are composed of council members and sometimes include community members (members-at-large) or experts who provide additional insight. These committees make recommendations and decisions on behalf of Council, ensuring more efficient and effective governance. When a committee makes a decision delegated to it by the Council, it carries the same authority as if Council made the decision. This structure helps streamline processes and allows Council to handle a wider range of issues more effectively.
