Fire Ban Lifted

JUNE 17 @ 9AM: The fire ban has been lifted for the Big Lakes County Permit area. Firefighters sincerely thank you for your cooperation and patience while the fire ban was in effect. Valid fire permits are now reinstated, and new fire permits will be issued.

Fire Permits

From now until October 31, fire permits are required for any burning, except campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Fire permits are free and are available online at Fire Permits – Big Lakes County.

If the location, you wish to burn falls within the County’s jurisdiction contact the County Fire Guardian at 780-507-9848. If the burn location falls outside the County’s area of responsibility (the Forest Protection Area) contact Alberta Wildfire at 780-523-6619.
