The High Prairie Airport Runway Overlay and Lighting Upgrades will also be funded under the Community Airport Program.

Big Lakes County will receive a grant of 75 percent of the estimated eligible project costs for the following projects:

• BF# 80690 – Bridge Culvert Replacement up to $431,250

Ken Matthews, Big Lakes County Reeve said, “on behalf of Big Lakes County Council and administration we would like to thank the Honourable Brian Mason, Minister of Alberta Transportation for this funding. We were all extremely pleased to hear the good news and we cannot wait to begin these projects.

Our Council and administration will continue to lobby and work cooperatively with the governments to ensure that they are aware of the projects that we need for improving our services to the ratepayers of the County. We know that it is extremely important to be visible and be recognized by the governments as a progressive Municipality.”

The final grant amount will be based on the actual eligible costs at the time of the project completion.
