    Big Lakes County is seeking four (4) self-motivated individuals to join our team as seasonal scale operators. This position will involve 12-hour shifts, 4 days on, 4 days off, from approximately mid-May to September 2025.

    Key Roles & Responsibilities

    • Operate the scale to weigh trucks.
    • Accurately record each truck’s weight before and after loading to calculate the amount of material being transported.
    • Track and log weights for each load for billing, inventory, and regulatory purposes.
    • Input weight data into the system or maintain logs for internal tracking and reporting to the municipality.
    • Compile and submit daily reports at the end of each shift, including the weight of materials transported and any other relevant data.
    • Ensure that weight tickets and documentation are completed and submitted to the appropriate department for processing and invoicing.


    Education & Experience

    • Minimum grade 12 diploma.
    • Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s.
    • Must have a personal vehicle to commute to and from Drift Pile gravel pit.
    • Provide current drivers abstract.

    Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate load weights, conversions, and verify accurate data.
    • Record keeping skills
    • Must maintain confidentiality
    • Must be self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision


    Working Conditions & Physical Environment 

    • Work may be performed in extreme temperatures and various outdoor conditions, including exposure to dust and fumes.
    • Exposure to some outdoor conditions
    • Long periods of sitting and standing.
    • Shift work: 12-hour days, 4 days on, 4 days off rotation

    Health & Safety

    • All personnel working at Big Lakes County are governed by the County’s Health & Safety Policy.
    • Ensures all operations are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with County Policies and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations
    • Required to wear correct P.P.E as per safe job procedures
    • Must check in as per Working Alone legislation
    • Must follow all safe job procedures
