    Big Lakes County invites applications for the position of FCSS Community Outreach Worker. We are looking for a dedicated and organized individual to join our team and support residents of Big Lakes County and the Town of High Prairie through community programs and services.

    In this role your will:

    • Assist residents with government forms and applications.
    • Provide resource and referral information.
    • Connect individuals with appropriate agencies and community supports.
    • Promote FCSS programs and events.
    • Advocate on behalf of residents in their interactions with various government departments.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Coordinate FCSS services and programs across the service area.
    • Promote positive public relations for Big Lakes County’s Family and Community Support Services.
    • Organize and facilitate meetings, community events, focus groups, and conferences, including:
      • Volunteer Appreciation Nights
      • Seniors Week
      • Family Day
      • Community Volunteer Income Tax Program
      • County Barbecue
      • Christmas Angels Hamper Program
      • Red Silhouette Program
    • Implement, monitor, and evaluate both existing and new FCSS initiatives.
    • Ensure all programs meet provincial FCSS preventative social service criteria.
    • Provide residents with information on local, municipal, provincial, and federal resources.
    • Offer referrals and assistance in accessing appropriate services and supports.
    • Network and collaborate with other agencies to connect residents to services.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy in all client interactions.
    • Complete Registration & Inquiry (R&I) and Emergency Social Services (ESS) training.
    • Assist in evacuation centres during emergencies as required.
    • Maintain accurate records and submit monthly reports.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience

    • Grade 12 diploma (required).
    • Post-secondary training or certification in a related field is considered an asset.
    • FOIPP training is an asset.
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
    • Current Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector).
    • Current 5-year Driver’s Abstract.

    Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

    Compensation

    Big Lakes County offers a competitive salary, along with an excellent benefits and pension package.

    Hours of Work

    Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
