Planning to Light Fireworks?
If you’re thinking about setting off fireworks in the Big Lakes County Fire Permit Area, you must obtain a permit first.
✅ Apply online: biglakescounty.ca/services/emergency-safety/fire-permits
📞 Or contact the Fire Guardian at 780-507-9848
Note: If you live outside the County’s permit area (in the Forest Protection Area), please contact Alberta Wildfire at 780-523-6619 for approval.
Campfire Safety
Before heading outdoors, check albertafirebans.ca for current fire advisories, restrictions and bans. Keep campfires within a proper fire ring on a non-combustible surface, never leave a fire unattended and always keep water nearby.
If the wind exceeds 15 km/h, or increases beyond the conditions outlined on your fire permit, extinguish your fire immediately.
When extinguishing a campfire, soak it, stir it and soak it again until it is cool to the touch.
