Big Lakes County pleased to announce that preparatory work for the Kinuso Centre Street Reconstruction Project will begin the week of July 13, with major construction scheduled to start on July 20, 2026. The project is expected to continue through late October or early November, weather permitting.
The project will include road reconstruction, surface removals, replacement of aging water, storm, and sanitary infrastructure, concrete work, granular base installation, asphalt paving, and drainage improvements. These upgrades will improve safety, enhance drainage, and strengthen the long-term reliability of Kinuso’s municipal infrastructure.
“This project represents one of the largest infrastructure investments Big Lakes County has made in the Hamlet of Kinuso,” said Big Lakes County Reeve Tyler Airth. “By replacing aging infrastructure and improving drainage, roads, and underground utilities, we’re making a long-term investment in the future of our community. We appreciate the patience and understanding of residents, businesses, and visitors throughout construction, and we encourage everyone to continue supporting our local businesses during this time.”
Construction will take place in three phases:
- Phase 1: Railway Avenue to Kinuso Avenue (anticipated July 20 – September 21)
- Phase 2: Kinuso Avenue to Swan Avenue (anticipated September 3 – October 28)
- Phase 3: New waterline installation (anticipated October 10 – October 24)
The anticipated construction hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Work on Sundays may be required if necessary to maintain the project schedule.
During construction, motorists are asked to follow all posted detours and alternate routes. Back lane access to properties will be maintained throughout construction; however, front vehicle access to some properties may be temporarily restricted. Sidewalks will remain accessible, and local businesses will remain open throughout construction.
Big Lakes County and E Construction thank residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period. Regular updates will be provided as work progresses. Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Kyle Clarke, Project Manager, E Construction at 780-215-1291 or email [email protected].
