Big Lakes County is thrilled to congratulate the Salt Prairie Settlement Community Club on the opening of their brand-new playground, a vibrant addition that will provide children and families with a safe and fun space to play and gather.
“Providing safe and accessible spaces for children to play and families to connect is a priority for our County,” said Big Lakes County Reeve Tyler Airth. “We are proud to support the Salt Prairie Settlement Community Club in creating a space where families can make lasting memories.”
The project was made possible through a combination of community, provincial, and federal grants, including:
- Big Lakes County Capital Grant – The Salt Prairie Settlement Community Club received $55,000 through this County grant, which supports local initiatives that enhance quality of life and foster strong community connections.
- Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) Small – The Club received $97,000 through this provincial grant, which provides up to $125,000 in financial assistance to upgrade, expand, purchase, or build arts, cultural, heritage, recreational, sport, or other public-use community facilities.
- Built Together – Blue Cross Program – The Club received $50,000 from this Alberta Blue Cross grant, which helps communities build spaces for active living such as playgrounds, skate parks, outdoor gyms, and sports courts. Each year, $50,000 grants are awarded in Edmonton, Calgary, a secondary city, a rural community, and an Indigenous community to support healthy, active lifestyles.
- New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) – The Club received $20,500 through this federal program to purchase adult exercise equipment. NHSP provides funding for projects that make a difference in the lives of seniors and in their communities.
“Our community is amazed with our new playground/park,” said Ana Bruce, Board Member of the Salt Prairie Settlement Community Club. “We are so grateful for the grants that local, provincial, and federal governments offer as well as private business to better communities, we thank you!”
