October 22, 2024: At the Annual Organizational Meeting held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Big Lakes County Council elected Ward 8 Councillor Tyler Airth as Reeve and Ward 3 Councillor Jim Zabolotniuk as Deputy Reeve for the coming year.
“I am truly honored to continue serving as your Reeve and excited for the opportunities ahead,” said Reeve Airth. “Our dedicated team, from council to staff, is committed to serving the needs of our residents. Together, we are well-positioned to tackle challenges and embrace new opportunities.” He added, “Council continues to be focused on ensuring our decisions align with the Strategic Plan, which supports the long-term growth and stability of our community.”
Deputy Reeve Jim Zabolotniuk expressed his appreciation for the appointment, saying, “It’s a privilege to serve as Deputy Reeve for the residents of Big Lakes County. I am grateful for the trust placed in me by Council, and I am committed to working alongside my colleagues to ensure that our initiatives align with our Strategic Plan and reflect the needs of our community.”
The Annual Organizational Meeting is held each October, during which Council reviews and updates key bylaws and policies, appoints members to over 50 committees, and elects the Reeve and Deputy Reeve. The meeting sets the direction for the upcoming year, ensuring the County’s leadership is aligned with the needs and goals of the community.
