Program Updates

ALUS Big Lakes County

Looking for ways to fund better management practices on your farm? Big Lakes County’s ALUS program may be able to help! We offer a 50/50 cost-share opportunity for producers interested in restoring, reclaiming, or enhancing natural areas on their farms. This includes projects like off-source watering, exclusion fencing, and creating pollinator habitats. If this sounds like a fit for your farm, contact our ALUS Coordinator at 780-507-9840 for more information.

Shelterbelt Program

Did you know that Big Lakes County partners with the NAIT Centre for Boreal Research to provide native species through our shelterbelt program? Shelterbelts are fantastic for improving soil stability and water retention, but they also create valuable habitats for native species. These species help extend the pollination season and add diversity to traditional shelterbelts. Visit our website to place your order today!
